What’s the minimum age you teach?
2 1/2 years old.
What’s the difference between Day and Night swim classes?
Day swim can be up to 4 instructors and 4 swimmers in the pool at the same time. All lessons are one on one. Night classes are for convenience and always one instructor and one swimmer in the pool.
Can my swimmers wear goggles during lessons?
No. I do not allow them to wear goggles, because I want them to learn how to swim with their eyes open.
Does my swimmer need to be potty trained?
No. They just need to wear a swim diaper. Please bring extra.
What happens if it’s inclement weather?
Still come unless you hear from me. The day of lessons, I will be in the pool and cannot respond to calls/texts. Therefore, I will intentionally reach out to you if there is inclement weather and we cannot swim that day.
Can I watch the swim lessons?
Yes. I ask all parents to stay behind the wrought iron fence during lessons. It’s hard for me to keep them focussed if they can go to you.
How many weeks can I sign up for?
You can sign up for as many as you want. My goal is after four days and continued practice with you, that they would improve.
After lessons, if my swimmer wears floaties, will it impact their progress?
No. Actually, I want your child safe, so if floaties are needed, that is your parental decision. In order for them to continue their progress, they need to swim without them as well. Most drowning incidences happen when you take the floaties off and the child doesn’t realize they no longer have them on and they jump in the water.
How do I pay my remaining balance?
Bring check or cash to your first lesson. Place in an envelope and put in my money box by the pool.
What if my child gets sick?
Please let me know ASAP. I will do everything in my power to reschedule. However, this is not guaranteed.
Will my swimmer be with Sonya everyday?
No. All of my instructors are well-trained and do a fantastic job. I do swim with every swimmer at least one day.
What kind of pool do you have?
I have a heated salt water pool.
Do you teach any advanced swimming skills for older children?
I do teach beginner strokes and diving. This includes free style, back stroke and diving from side and diving board.
